The Berlin Wall
In November 1989, the news of the fall of the Berlin Wall created waves around the world. It was the symbolic event of the ending of the Cold War between east and west, and I remember it very clearly even now.
It is more than 20 years since the wall came down, and almost nothing remains of it today, but walking around Berlin you see signs indicating where the wall once was. In certain places there are also stones buried in the road.
