Prologue.

On my last day in Athens, I had some time before my evening flight, so I decided to visit the Parthenon once more before I left. 

In the hot sunlight, I headed towards the temple, but there were so many tourists there that I could hardly climb the stairs. Defeated by the fever caused by so many people, I went round the back, and found, at the foot of the temple, a large bird circling slowly. I felt as though the bird, together with the temple, was keeping a watch over those of us rushing around as tourists.
