Arriving in Berlin
After flying from Japan and changing planes, I finally arrived in Berlin in the evening. By the time I checked into my hotel, it was 20 hours since I had left my home on the first train in the morning, on the first day of the summer holidays. I was at a peak of tiredness and extremely sleepy, but I knew that I would be jetlagged if I slept now. I went out of the hotel and walked around on the main streets. The European-style buildings were bathed in soft evening light, and my tiredness seemed to lift as a result.
