Frankfurter Tor
On my last day in Berlin, I went to Karl-Marx-Allee, since I had heard that it gives visitors a strong impression of the old "East Berlin". It is 2km from Alexanderplatz, and at its end is the Frankfurter Tor. The huge apartment buildings that stand at the side of the road seemed to approach me soundlessly, without giving any sign of the routines of life.
